Hotly-tipped four piece Flashguns have emerged from time in the studio with a brand new EP under their arms, ready for release on Blue Flowers Records going through Geffen (July 13th). The band went into the studio with Luke Smith (of Clor) who was recently in LA working on Depeche Mode’s No.1 album.
The four tracks that make up ‘Matching Hearts, Similar Parts’ show the astonishing rate at which this young band are developing. Lead track ‘I Don’t Not Love You’ sees a bigger sound, the band gaining a directness not heard before. Unafraid of a big chorus, it’s clear to see the band are developing an ambitious sound of their own. Always intelligent and forward-thinking, tracks like ‘Bells At
Midnight’ and ‘Racing Race’ illustrate the well-crafted, almost cerebral elements of their music. Live favourite ‘St George’ brings a stunning intensity that leaves you with the sense that this is a band really coming of age. Forward thinking and progressive, the songs display a soulfulness that for too long has not been evident in British guitar bands.
Strong support has already come from Steve Lamacq, Zane Lowe and Huw Stephens, as well as the likes of the NME and The Fly.
